For every one degree a thermostat is lowered, heating costs are cut by 2 percent.
A thermostat lowered from 73 to 68 degrees can result in a heating bill savings of 10 percent. And don’t forget to turn thermostats down when not home. Consider installing an electronic programmable thermostat that allows scheduling to save money on heating costs throughout the winter.
