Columbia Gas to Begin Parkersburg Road Project

Parkersburg Road Southwest Detour Begins Monday, July 12

Columbia Gas of Maryland will begin upgrading 6,150 feet of natural gas infrastructure along Parkersburg Road Southwest in Frostburg on Monday, July 12.

The work, including final pavement restoration, is expected to last approximately three months, with work taking place Monday through Friday during daylight hours.

Due to the location of the pipe being replaced, as well as the roadway and traffic conditions at the site, Parkersburg Road Southwest will be open only to local residents and emergency vehicles during working hours, with all other traffic detoured to Porter Road Northwest. Parkersburg Road Southwest will be closed to thru traffic between National Highway (Rt. 40) and Parkersburg Road Northwest approximately 4 to 6 weeks until the project work and surface restoration has been completed.

In addition to replacing the natural gas main, more than 80 homes along Parkersburg Road Southwest will have new natural gas service lines installed, and any homes along the route with gas meters currently inside the home will have the meters moved outside at no cost to the homeowners.
