Cold Weather Minute: Keep Costs Down By Keeping Your Thermostat Down
October 21, 2010
Columbia Gas of Maryland encourages customers to manage home temperatures this winter to save on home heating bills. To ensure optimal home heating while saving energy and money, set thermostats to 68 degrees or lower during the day and evening. When leaving the house for more than 4 hours, or before going to bed, set the thermostat back to 55 degrees. For every degree thermostats are lowered in the 60-to-70-degree range, homeowners can save up to five percent on home heating costs.
