Community Support

Columbia Gas of Maryland is committed to actively supporting organizations that are working to make a difference in the communities we serve. Every year, we award grants that help improve the quality of life for our customers, our employees, and our neighbors in the communities where we deliver safe and reliable natural gas service.

Our community support is focused on public safety and emergency response, environmental sustainability and community and economic development. Learn more about our grant application process for these type of non-profit organizations.

In addition to supporting non-profit organizations through monetary funding, Columbia Gas is committed to employee volunteerism, natural gas safety education for first responders, as well as energy efficiency and bill assistance for seniors and low-income customers.

Employee Volunteerism

Columbia Gas of Maryland encourages employees to volunteer in the communities where the Company safely and reliability delivers natural gas. Employees are often provided the opportunity to volunteer both during and after work hours and the Company supports causes and initiatives of significance to employees and their families.

Our employees play a critical role in philanthropic efforts, donating significant time and money to causes and organizations they believe in. Columbia Gas supports and encourages employee volunteerism through our corporate NiSource Dollars for Doers program, which contributes up to $500 per employee to an organization in return for volunteer time.

Columbia Gas Safety School

Columbia Gas of Maryland is committed to supporting first responders with monetary and material resources, as well as natural gas safety education to help to keep our communities and customers safe.

Annually, Columbia Gas of Maryland partners with volunteer fire departments to enhance community safety through education, training and monetary donations. Every year Columbia Gas educates hundreds of firefighters regarding natural gas safety. Learn more about how we support first responders and how first responders can sign-up for our annual Safety School training.
