Columbia Gas of Maryland employees donate, volunteer and present $1,000 to support the Washington County Community Action Council food bank

Columbia Gas of Maryland employees volunteered their energy and time at Washington County Community Action Council food bank today, dropping off donations collected by employees and helping distribute food and personal hygiene supplies to qualified individuals throughout the local community. Columbia Gas employees donated 311 items, equating to 164 pounds of food.

“We thank Columbia Gas Maryland for their continued interest and support of the Washington County Community Action Council and most importantly, the residents of Hagerstown,” said Donna M. Rose, Director of Case Management Washington County Community Action Council. “All funds, including the donation by Columbia Gas, will be used to purchase food and approved supplies for qualified clients.”

Through its food bank services, the Washington County Community Action Council currently serves approximately 2,000 families, which includes nearly 5,000 individuals. More about Washington County Community Action.

“The services Washington County Community Action Council provides to the local community is such a blessing to so many families,” said Columbia Gas Community Engagement Manager Sarah Perry. “We are humbled to be a very small part of this service and assisting families in need.” 

The Washington County Community Action Council food bank currently operates Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is closed 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. for lunch.
